Ridge vents for livestock buildings.
Ridge vents provide natural extraction of warm air and moisture from the space under the roof and at the same time bring daylight into the livestock building. We manufacture them in two versions - as electrically operated double-leaf vents with the option of stepless adjustment of the opening and connection to the HAZE weather station, or as static vents in GRP or polycarbonate that stay permanently open and provide continuous natural ventilation. We manufacture vents from 0.4 to 4.5 m wide according to the requirements of the specific building. Below you will find detailed information about each version and a comparison between them.

Each version described.

Double-leaf ridge vent - electric drive
The electrically operated double-leaf ridge vent allows stepless adjustment of natural ventilation according to the current conditions in the livestock building. The system can be linked to the HAZE weather station, which automatically opens and closes the vent according to the weather, and it can be fitted with a back-up power supply to keep it running during a power failure. We manufacture the opening width in the range from 1500 to 1800 mm. The infill can be curtain or polycarbonate. The curtain version is standard in livestock buildings, while the polycarbonate infill is suitable above all for milking parlours and other buildings with higher demands on thermal insulation and natural daylight.
| Control | Yes, stepless opening and closing |
|---|---|
| Operation | Electric drive, connection to the HAZE weather station |
| Infill | Curtain or polycarbonate |
| Available widths | 1.5 - 1.8 m |
| Max. length - curtain infill | 140 m |
| Max. length - polycarbonate infill | 100 m |

Ridge vent without adjustment - saddle ridge cover
A top ridge cover at the same pitch as the roof. The cover is made of polycarbonate with a sheet metal side deflector and the system is maintenance-free. It provides natural ventilation and daylight in the livestock building.
| Control | No, not adjustable |
|---|---|
| Operation | None, permanent ventilation |
| Infill | Polycarbonate |
| Available widths | 1 - 3 m |
| Max. length | 100 m |

Ridge vent without adjustment - polycarbonate arch
This ridge vent stays permanently open and provides continuous extraction of warm air and moisture from the livestock building together with a supply of daylight. The structure is a hot-dip galvanised steel frame and the infill is a self-supporting polycarbonate arch. This type of vent is available for opening widths from 1.5 m to 4.5 m. The polycarbonate infill gives better thermal insulation properties and higher daylight transmission.
| Control | No, not adjustable |
|---|---|
| Operation | None, permanent ventilation |
| Infill | Polycarbonate |
| Available widths | 1.5 - 4.5 m |
| Max. length | 100 m |

Ridge vent without adjustment - GRP
This ridge vent stays permanently open and provides continuous extraction of warm air and moisture from the livestock building together with a supply of daylight. The structure is a hot-dip galvanised steel frame and the infill is made of GRP. This type of vent is available for opening widths from 0.42 m to 1.4 m. The GRP infill offers high strength, a long service life, good thermal insulation properties and high daylight transmission.
| Control | No, not adjustable |
|---|---|
| Operation | None, permanent ventilation |
| Infill | GRP |
| Available widths | 0.42 - 1.4 m |
| Max. length | 100 m |

Sheet metal work and additional products
For ridge vents we supply metal flashing, which protects the structure against rainwater ingress. The need for flashing is always assessed individually according to the structure and specifications of the particular building. We offer the flashing with or without a sealing profile, in colours from the RAL colour chart.

Which ventilation to choose.
What matters is whether you want stepless adjustment of the ventilation, the width of the vent and the pitch of the roof. For each version you can see the parameter and what it is suitable for.

What you ask most often.
What is the difference between an adjustable ridge vent and one without a damper?
The adjustable double-leaf ridge vent can be opened and closed steplessly by an electric drive and linked to the weather station, so it responds to the weather. Arches without a damper cannot be closed - they provide permanent ventilation and daylight in the livestock building, and they have a simpler structure and a lower price.
Should I choose GRP or polycarbonate?
GRP is the least expensive option but it insulates less well. Polycarbonate holds heat better, has high light transmission and prevents the livestock building from overheating. We offer both variants for the arches without a damper; for the adjustable double-leaf ridge vent you choose between curtain and polycarbonate.
What vent width can you supply?
From 0.4 to 4.5 m depending on the variant. Smaller arches are for narrower ridges; self-supporting arches and sheet polycarbonate reach up to 4.5 m. The adjustable double-leaf ridge vent has an opening width of 1500 - 1800 mm.
When is flashing needed?
We always assess the need for flashing individually according to the structure and specifications of the particular building. Metal flashing protects the structure against rainwater ingress and we supply it with or without a sealing profile, in colours from the RAL colour chart.
Can the ridge vent be connected to automatic control?
Yes. The adjustable double-leaf ridge vent is operated by an electric drive, is linked to the HAZE weather station and can be integrated into the automatic control of the livestock building. It can be fitted with a back-up power supply so that it works during a power failure.
Which operations are the ridge vents suitable for?
For cattle, horse, sheep and goat housing, collecting yards and milking parlours, and also for wastewater treatment plants, storage buildings and industrial buildings. We design the specific version according to the building and the operation.
